Black History Month in the UK is commemorated throughout October. Orkney Rape and Sexual Assault Service (ORSAS) are marking the event in their Kirkwall premises with an exhibition of the work of Tatyana Fazlalizadeh.
Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is a Black/Iranian visual artist from Oklahoma City, USA.
Her street art series, Stop Telling Women to Smile, can be found on walls across the globe.
Stop Telling Women to Smile is the work ORSAS has chosen to exhibit. Stop Telling Women to Smile is about reflecting the faces and voices of various women and non-binary people who deal with street harassment.
If you have a chance to pop by ORSAS it is worth checking it out at 26 Bridge Street Kirkwall. They also have a shop facility if you are looking for something different for Christmas. Click on the link: Stop Telling Women To Smile
