A Look Around Hamnavoe House Care Home Stromness

Orkney’s newest care home opened its doors to the public on Friday 24th of January 2020 – Hamnavoe House in Stromness.

You can watch a short film of it here:

A lot of thought has gone into the development of the care home which was built by Orkney Builders. The £9million Hamnavoe House has been finished to a very high standard.

The colour scheme inside is calming and the shared public areas where activities and meals take place are bright with natural daylight.

Hamnavoe House is all on one level and smooth, tactile wooden hand rails run along the walls. There are nooks where you can have a wee seat and a garden outside which will develop into a lovely space in no time.

All the rooms are en suite and a few larger to accommodate different needs.

One of the things I particularly loved about Hamnavoe House are the paintings and images along the corridors and in communal areas.

I am sure once the residents are living in Hamnavoe House it will become an even more welcoming and supportive place. And of course all this is only possible with those that provide the care and Orkney’s care workers are extremely good in what they do.
