Jean Leonard, who has done so much to promote traditional music in Orkney has been inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame.
The Stromness music teacher, who has taught many Orkney bairns both in school and out, has been a huge influence on the promotion of traditional music in the islands. It was her drive and passion that led to the setting up the Orkney Traditional Music Project in 1998 which enabled all ages to learn an instrument.
In January 2020 Jean Leonard was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to the community and music in Orkney.
And here she is in action last year.
