On 13th of September 1969, the children’s animation Scooby Doo, Where Are You? first hit the TV screens in the US.

Aired on CBS the Hanna Barbera show was to become a massive hit with the cartoon dog, Scooby Doo, proving much more popular than the human characters.

The first episode ‘What a Night for a Knight’ set the usual plot scenario, with the teenage sleuths and Scooby Doo solving mysteries.

The original TV series ran from 1969 – 1976 and has since seen movies, Scrappy Doo (no comment), spin offs, re-runs and live action films.

  1. I used to know a Boxer-dog – Bert by name – who was very like Scooby-doo. His owner referred to his treats as ‘Scooby-snacks’. He was one of the daftest dogs I’ve ever known!
