On 20th September 1967, the liner Queen Elizabeth 2, QE2, was launched at the John Brown & Co shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland.

The launch of the Cunard vessel was such a great event that it was televised. Schools up and down Scotland hustled pupils into Assembly Halls to watch the event on the school TV. The name of the liner was kept secret and before the launch it was known as the Q4.
On 2nd of May 1969 the QE2 made its maiden voyage across the Atlantic to New York.
During the Falklands war she was requisitioned as a troop carrier.
In 2018 she was made into a floating hotel in Dubai.
