On December 13th 1928 the clip on tie was invented.

Although the tie itself has fallen out of fashionable favour for many men, except perhaps for formal occasions such as funerals and weddings, many organisations continue to require the wearing of one in uniforms.
Many schools have got rid of tie wearing , replaced by sweatshirts bearing the school logo.
The clip on tie, however, has been very useful, not only for those who wrestle with Windsor knots and the like, but uniform (especially those in security work) like them because of their quick release possibilities.
