This time last year Mike took that picture of the Dog’s-tooth Violet in our garden.,
This year it had put its leaves up, just got its buds, when The Weather hit – it’s now a ragged, sad thing, which I’ll trim back and wait for it to re-appear next year.
I am amazed at the resilience of the other flowers – the daffs have stood up again – some were broken, but I think we’ll get another flush of flowers. The little blue Scillas and Grape Hyacinths were flattened, and have stood up again. The primroses which had started to flower were blasted – but they are flowering again.
The green buds on the trees and shrubs will fluff up again.
All in all the only actual casualty of this year’s horrible April weather was the Dog’s-tooth Violet – and it will return!
