However it becomes brighter for the afternoon across Shetland as an occasionally fresh northerly breeze develops, bringing occasional, mainly light showers. These brighter, showery conditions reach Orkney later in afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
A mix of late sunny then clear spells and showers through this evening and overnight. The showers may merge to give some longer spells of rain, especially across Shetland overnight. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

A mostly bright day with sunny spells and showers, the showers most frequent across Shetland with Orkney seeing the best of the sunshine. Feeling cool with occasionally strong northerly winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Sunny or clear spells and few showers through the coming days, but risk of more persistent rain across Orkney later Thursday and early Friday. Cool with northerly or northeasterly winds.
