A cloudy start over Orkney with some showery outbreaks of rain. Skies should brighten during the day, the best of any sunshine over Shetland, although a scattering of light showers still possible. Feeling cold in the fresh northeasterly wind. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry with patchy cloud cover and the chance of the odd light shower. The chilly north or northeast winds will gradually ease. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Saturday 22nd May:

Cloud could thicken across Shetland bringing outbreaks of rain. Orkney will stay drier and brighter with a few sunny spells and the chance of a shower. Moderate northwest winds. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A mainly dry and bright few days with sunny spells and just a few light showers. Temperatures staying on the cold side with mostly light winds.
