A First for Orkney, Girl’s Youth Football Team; The Coaches Interview.

Training Session

The Kirkwall City Ladies Football Club has started running training sessions for Girls Youth Football with a view to creating Girls Youth Teams. This follows on from last years trial period which involved 7-11 year olds in which 30 youngsters took part.

During Tuesday night’s training session at the Pickyquoy Pitches situated just beyond the Rugby Club, we popped along to watch the girls in action; we even managed to see a goal whilst there.

We caught up with Coaches Kirsty Brown & Fran Deerness whilst there who were telling us that the groups are in two brackets; Primary 1-3 and Primary 4-7. They have reached their current maximum of 50 for the youngest, but they are offering up a waiting list. There is a £1 weekly charge to cover the pitches cost etc but if football is your thing then don’t be put off, as the Ladies want to encourage all Girls onto the Football field; so get in touch either by sending a message via Facebook or by dropping an e-mail to kirkwallcityladiesfootballclub@gmail.com

There is also an opportutnity to be right at the the cutting edge of the future of this venture by becoming a Sponser‘ so if you are interested then use the contact links above.

The focus for this year will hopefully be a Football Festival so we here at The Orkney News shall keep you posted of any future events.
