Repsol Sinopec (RSRUK) have announced proposals which could mean that 14 jobs are at risk of redundancy at the Orkney Flotta Oil Terminal.
The trade union, Unite, has been in dialogue with the company over the organisational ‘review’ in order to mitigate the potential for redundancies and has pledged to do all it can to support the Orkney workforce.
Flotta is operated by the Spanish-Chinese joint venture firm.
Shauna Wright, Unite industrial officer, said:
“Unite is disappointed to hear the Petrofac have announced that 14 jobs are at risk of redundancy over in Orkney Flotta Oil Terminal.
“This is a devastating blow to the local economy during the current climate.
“Petrofac are speaking with their employees tomorrow and Unite have advised that they will offer ongoing support to members during this difficult time and be pushing the company to mitigate as many redundancies as possible.”
