Looking for an excellent local Orkney product or even a selection of quality gifts from the islands ? then make your way to the J. Gow Distillery Shop at Lamb Holm. Located near to the iconic Italian Chapel this little gift shop is the ideal stop off place if you want to buy truly Orcadian gifts.

It’s got: pottery, knitting, chocolate, oatcakes, rugs and books to name just a few of the items on sale – and of course – Rum.

The rum is produced on the island of Lamb Holm which may make it one of the smallest rum producing islands in the world.

The rum is entirely made in Orkney although the molasses have to be imported as we’ve not yet managed to grow that crop locally. There’s several varieties to choose from and you will be buying local, supporting local and getting something great in return.

You can find out more here: jgowrum.com

And in case you haven’t worked it out yet J.Gow Rum is named after Orkney’s most infamous if very unfortunate pirate John Gow.
