Six of Orkney’s top designers have come together to form Skara Home.

Marketing Director Sacha Woolham explained:
“Throughout lockdown it was clear that individual designers all faced similar barriers to connecting with customers beyond Orkney.
“By joining together and creating Skara Home, we will not only address these challenges, but enable more people around the world to appreciate beautiful designs that capture the spirit of Orkney.”
Some of those involved include:
- Kevin Gauld whose ‘Brodgar Occasional Chair’ is on permanent exhibition at Dundee V&A
- Robbie Thomson whose home was runner up in ‘BBC Scotland Home of the Year 2020’
- Kirsteen Stewart whose signature blend of vivid colour and bold graphics give Skara Home its distinctive character.

Artist and shareholder Stuart Sim said:
“Often we work in solo situations. Skara Home is a no pressure way to refresh and exchange ideas, then bring them back to our individual studios and workshops.
“Together we shared back office support which frees up more time to do what we are best at which is to create and focus on our own individual businesses.
“Skara Home is an exciting venture for us to experiment with new collaborations as we expand the collections.”
