Today 11th October:

Showers heavier and frequent across Shetland during morning, then tending to dwindle over all through the afternoon. Best of the bright and sunny spells either side of mid-day, then cloud thickening across Orkney late afternoon. Fresh to strong northwest winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland mostly dry with only a few isolated well scattered showers possible, with clear spells. Orkney rather cloudy with chance of some rain, though this should be light. Winds easing. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Tuesday 12th October:

Orkney cloudy with some patchy light rain. Shetland keeps sunshine and only a few light isolated showers. Winds light and variable in direction. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rather cloudy with further rain, most of this fleeting and light, but more organised rainband crossing the area late Thursday and early Friday, which turns heavy at times.
