Most staying dry through the morning with some brighter spells breaking through the extensive higher cloud and only a few isolated showers around. Showers building through the afternoon, perhaps merging to longer and heavier periods of rain towards early evening. Maximum temperature 15 °C.
Tonight:
Showers or longer periods of rain, turning heavy at times, bringing risk of some hail and thunder. Probably turning drier across Orkney towards dawn, as strong westerly winds develop. Minimum temperature 9 °C.
Wednesday 20th October:
Cloudy by day with occasional rain which turns heavier at times. Strong west winds veering northwest late in day, as rain clears to showers, bringing risk of some hail overnight. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Cold snap Thursday, early Friday, with blustery showers, wintry over hills, and strong northerly winds. Turning drier late Friday, then milder Saturday as winds back southwest, pushing rainbands across area.
