Orkney Judo at the Bounce Back Festival

On Sunday 21st November Orkney Judo took 6 juniors, 2 coaches and 4 parents to Judo Scotland’s Bounce Back Festival (North) in Invergordon where the youngest gold medallist at a British European Open (along with various other medals) Josie Steele and 2 time Paralympian medallist Sam Ingram delivered a masterclass.

Junior members of Orkney Judo Club, Invergordon Judo Club, Alness Evanton Judo Club, Elgin Judo Club, Northern Judo Club and Highland Budokan Judo Club ranging from beginners to the current Scottish National Championship gold medallist took part and worked together.

The session lasted 2 and a half hours during which time they learned 2 techniques delivered by Josie and Sam to help develop their judo and worked with 32 other judoka from all over the north of Scotland.

The 17 coaches were on hand help ensure the kids had an enjoyable but challenging learning experience. From their reactions we can safely say this was achieved.

During and after the event lots of coaches discussions were held and there is now a large network of northern clubs looking at working together including visits to Orkney and us travelling south again.

On behalf of Orkney Judo we would like to thank those below for their services and sponsorship to make this trip possible.
