Today 1st February:

Bright or sunny intervals and occasional blustery showers, some of these heavy and turning wintry later, especially over Shetland. West to northwesterly gales, with severe gales over Orkney for a time. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

A few clear spells, but further showers, still some heavy and wintry at times. Strong or gale force west or northwest winds at first but gradually easing. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Wednesday 2nd February:

Showers dying out in the morning but becoming cloudy from west with patchy rain developing. Heavy more persistent rain in evening with strengthening southwest winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Some rain Thursday, heavy in afternoon with southerly gales. Colder with wintry showers overnight and Friday with west or northwest gales. Rain or showers on Saturday with strong southwest winds.
