Weil Holdings Ltd Acquires Sinclair Haulage Ltd, Sanday

Sinclair Haulage Limited has been acquired by Weil Holdings Limited . The transaction secures the future of Sinclair Haulage as a lifeline provider of haulage and distribution services to and from Sanday.

Based near the village of Kettletoft, Sanday, Sinclair Haulage provides a vital daily link between Sanday and Mainland.

Formed in 2000 with Malcolm Sinclair taking over Ray Drury’s haulage operation when he left Sanday, it expanded in 2007 with the purchase of Michael Muir’s haulage enterprise.

Commenting on the sale of the business Malcolm Sinclair said:

“I’ll be glad not to have to meet every single ferry and get home at a reasonable time at night. I’d like to thank the staff both in Sanday and in Kirkwall for taking on a lot of the day-to-day operations in recent years.

“The whole size and complexity of the haulage operation is light years away from when I took it on as a side-line to the farm in the days when there were farm workers here.

“I’m delighted that Dave Neil, with his vast experience in the haulage industry, is going to be running it, providing the high quality modern, professional service that the island deserves.”

Weil Holdings, based in Kirkwall brings excellent transport expertise with experienced transport manager and former JBT Area Manager Dave Neil and investor and businessman Mark Wallace.

The acquisition demonstrates Weil Holdings’ confidence in the Sanday economy and in the prospects of Orkney as a whole.

Under Weil Holdings, Sinclair Haulage will continue to deliver the excellent service it has built a reputation for whilst exploring opportunities to grow and further improve the services available to its customers and the wider community.

Commenting on the acquisition, Dave Neil, Director of Weil Holdings, said:

“We are delighted to acquire Sinclair Haulage. We believe that we can build on the excellent reputation that Sinclair Haulage has built over the past 22 years whilst bringing experience and investment to ensure its long-term future. For our customers it will be very much business as usual.

“We look forward to supporting them and the wider Sanday community in the coming years.”

Mark Wallace added:

“As long-term owners, we look forward to developing and growing Sinclair Haulage in a sustainable way that benefits our customers, our employees and the wider Orkney community.”
