My name is Cameron Whittle, I’m a candidate for this year’s council election. My main goal is to tackle the climate issues and energy prices that affect us.
As stated by Elon Musk:
“Our goal is to fundamentally change the way the world uses energy…we want to change the entire energy infrastructure of the world to zero carbon.”
Since the 90’s energy prices have continued to rise and this year we are told it will rise again by 30-50%. Let’s fight for our future and the future of generations to come, let us install more eco-friendly alternatives and reduce our energy bills now and for the future.
If I am elected my main goal is to push for solar panels to be installed on as many houses as possible. This will directly reduce your energy bills and with the proposed wind farms being built around Orkney we can combine the two to give fair and competitive energy prices.

Who exactly is going to pay for this green paradise? Let me guess, the poorest in society.
Hi there Lachlaun I aim to have the council pay for all the solar panel installation over 10 years, this opportunity will be available to all citizens in Orkney. There is a lot of variables at play and I need to work with a team of experts to put together a list of all the houses that will qualify, after a year I will present the 10-year plan to OIC.
This is my hope moving forward along with other plans to improve the opportunities for young people in Orkney and work alongside to police to reduce the crime here in Orkney.
