The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 3,811.
Saturday 5th March: 55 new cases, cumulative total 3,701
Sunday 6th March: 50 new cases, cumulative total 3,751
Monday 7th March: 60 new cases, cumulative total 3,811
From 26th of February to the 4th of March there were 503 new positive Covid cases in Orkney, a positivity rate of 2,245.5 per 100,000 ( the Scottish average over the same period was 1,005 per 100,000)
The Scottish figures published on 7th of March are as follows:
- 8,656 new cases of COVID-19 reported.
- 0 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are generally closed at weekends)
- 18 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 1,360 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 4,438,528 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,162,451 have received their second dose, and 3,451,358 have received a third dose or booster

On the 7th of March 2020 the whole of Scotland recorded a total of 16 positive Covid cases. By 7th of March 2021 the total number of cases recorded in Scotland was 205,498 ( 7th March 2022 it is 1,510,238) . Orkney had a cumulative total of 70 Covid cases by 7th of March 2021, a figure it had since the 18th of February 2021 . Today, 7th March 2022 Orkney has a cumulative total of 3,811. Instead of Covid being over it is still very much on the increase in Orkney with schools, care homes and businesses all affected by the transmission of the virus.
- get the vaccine or the vaccine booster
- take lateral flow tests twice a week, and if visiting someone vulnerable or visting a crowded place – get lateral flow tests
- follow the guidance on self-isolating and booking a test
- wear a face covering where required
- if mixing with others, try to gather in small groups only
- wash your hands regularly and cover your nose and mouth if coughing or sneezing
- open windows when meeting indoors
- a mixture of home and office working is allowed
- use the apps: COVID status, Protect Scotland and Check-in Scotland
