Today 17th March:
A dry and largely sunny start but cloud increasing through the morning with outbreaks of rain reaching Orkney towards midday. The rain spreads to Shetland during the afternoon while Orkney becomes brighter again with a few showers. Strengthening southerly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Tonight:
Cloud and outbreaks of rain across Shetland soon clearing to leave clear spells and showers across the Northern Isles. The showers become increasingly confined to Shetland overnight. Strong westerly winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Friday 18th March:
A few morning showers across Shetland but generally a dry and bright day with some hazy sunshine around. Occasionally strong southerly or southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Dry with some good sunny spells this weekend with occasionally strong, mainly southerly winds. Dry and bright through much of Monday, some evening rain for Orkney, as winds turn southeasterly.
