Sunny spells and frequent, occasionally heavy showers, these falling as a mix of rain, snow and hail, although any accumulations of snow are expected to be short-lived. A cold day with occasionally strong northerly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells and further wintry showers through the evening, the showers tending to become less frequent overnight, especially across Orkney. Risk of ice developing on untreated surfaces as winds ease. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Friday 1st April:

Another cold day with sunny spells and wintry showers, the showers less frequent that Thursday. Mainly light northerly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Sunny spells and, mostly rain, showers Saturday. Becoming dry for a time on Sunday then outbreaks of rain and perhaps a little snow later. Cloudy Monday with outbreaks of rain.
