Showers through the day, quite frequent and heavy at times with some risk of thunder. Limited morning brighter spells, which increase from mid-afternoon as showers weaken from the south. West to southwest winds fresh to strong. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers through the evening and night, brought on fresh to strong west to northwest winds. Rather cloudy but also some late sunshine and overnight clear spells. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday 12th May:

Sunshine between scattered light showers through much of the day. Showers building from the south late afternoon and through the evening and night. Fresh to strong west to southwest winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Friday morning mainly dry, occasionally bright. Showery rain developing later. Saturday mixed with cloud, patchy rain most likely across Orkney, while probably drier, brighter for Shetland. Sunny largely dry, bright.
