A cloudy start with some patchy mainly light rain and drizzle, but this largely dying out with clouds breaks to give some sunshine at times, with the best of this likely across Orkney. Light or moderate west to southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C.


A bright evening with some sunshine then clear spells overnight for Orkney, some mist and low cloud over Shetland, perhaps thick enough to give light drizzle at times. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday 15th May:

Mist and low cloud over Shetland soon clearing, then a dry and bright day across the Isles with some sunshine at times. Easterly winds may bring in some haar later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A bright day with for Shetland on Monday, with mist and low cloud across Orkney, this spreading north over Shetland on Tuesday, then cloudy with some showers on Wednesday.
