I noticed the slogan on the Ness of Brodgar Trust website https://www.nessofbrodgar.co.uk/trust/ which says that ‘Every single penny helps us to keep the dig running’.
I have what I refer to as my funny money box – old money, foreign money, coins which mean something to me. I remembered that I have various kinds of pennies, and wondered if anyone would like to buy them – they might appeal to folk as the year of their birth or whatever?
The buyer could donate to the Ness – and I’ll post them the pennies.
The dates on the coins are…
Ha’pennies – strangely enough – 1939 and 1945.
Pennies 1903, 1919, 1926 and 1964
Thruppenny bits 1943 and 1960
A sixpence 1959
They’re all in reasonable condition…the penny at the top – 1903 – isn’t as murky as it looks – it was just hard to get a clear photo!

Any takers?
