For people on holiday in Orkney this summer, or for islanders especially those living in Mainland, a visit to the 2022 Ness of Brodgar Dig is well worth your time.
Trench 1

The excavation is open to the public on weekdays, from 9.30am-4.30pm till August 17 2022. And there is free parking on the site too.

Information boards with QR codes are dotted around the site to give you extra information. There are also free guided tours at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Some of the boards can tell you a little bit more about other aspects of life at the Ness.

And while you are there you might witness a new find : like this bone being uncovered and the remains of a hearth as it disappears under a wall of a later building.

There are helpful volunteers on hand to speak to you as you arrive and a shop with lots of fabulous goodies for sale.
