Between the 3rd and 9th of July 2022 there were 72 new Covid cases reported in Orkney. The cumulative total is now 5,976.
Midlothian is now at the top of the leader board when it comes to Covid cases in Scotland with 346 cases in that week, at a rate of 371.4 (per 100,000) compared to Orkney at 321.4 (per 100,000) and a Scottish average of 314.7 (per 100,000).
2,303 ( 91.4%) of those aged 75+ in Orkney have received a 4th booster jag for Covid. A 5th booster has also been offered to some people with severe health conditions to maintain their protection against Covid.
15,858 ( 84.7%) of those aged 18+ in Orkney have had 3 doses of vaccine.

The stats for Scotland published on the PHS website, 13th July 2022 are as follows:
- in the week ending 10 July 2022, there have been 16,521 COVID-19 cases, a decrease of 9.5% from the previous week.
- 3,384 (20.5%) of all cases reported were determined to be reinfections when applying the 90-day threshold.
- there were 990 admissions to hospital with a positive COVID-19 test. The highest number of new admissions are in those aged 80+
- there were 19 new admissions to Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with a laboratory confirmed test of COVID-19.
- there were on average 1,669 patients in hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 15% from the previous week ending 03 July 2022 (1,451).

The data is now only published weekly, as are the deaths which will be reported tomorrow, Thursday. There is also a weekly update for the whole of the UK from the Office of National Statistics.
- get your vaccine when offered to ensure you are fully protected
- stay at home if you’re unwell with symptoms or have a fever
- open windows when socialising indoors
- wear a face covering in indoor public places and on public transport
- wash your hands to protect yourself
