Some early brighter spells. Cloud building to bring patchy rain to Orkney by mid-day, which extends to Shetland for the afternoon, before breaking to a mix of sunshine and scattered showers over Orkney before early evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Last of the cloud and rain across Shetland clearing early evening. Otherwise broken cloud cover mixed with scattered showers. Fresh south to southwest winds. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Friday 19th August:

Sunshine and showers. Outbreaks isolated through the morning, before increasing for the afternoon. Fresh south to southwest winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Further sunshine and showers for Saturday. Sunday largely dry with good periods of sunshine. Monday fair at first, then showers or longer periods of rain spreading from the south later.
