Today 9th October:

A bright start but increasing cloud brings outbreaks of rain towards midday. The rain becomes more persistent and occasionally heavy this afternoon before brighter, drier conditions reach Orkney towards the end of the afternoon. Strong to gale force southerly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Occasionally heavy rain over Shetland soon clearing this evening, then clear spells and occasionally heavy, perhaps thundery, showers overnight. Strong to gale force southerly then westerly winds. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Monday 10th October:

A cool, windy day with sunny spells and showers, the showers heaviest and most frequent through the morning. Westerly or northwesterly gales slowly easing. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Rather unsettled with showers on Tuesday and a longer spell of rain on Wednesday. Dry with sunny spells through daylight hours Thursday before evening rain. Breezy at times.
