There were 4 information and public consultations in Orkney about the proposed offshore windfarm west of Orkney: 2 in Kirkwall, 1 in Stromness and 1 in Hoy.
Offshore Wind Power Ltd plans to construct up to 125 fixed turbines.
Click on this link to read more about the project and about the company running it: West of Orkney Windfarm.

The location of the offshore windfarm is 30Km off the west coast of Orkney, 25Km north of the Sutherland coast.
It is proposed to have 5 offshore substations linked to the turbines with cables, There will also be 5 export cables.
The cables will come ashore in Sutherland and the 5 cables will go underground to a new substation at Spittal. It will connect up to the National Grid.
Connecting to a proposed Flotta Hydrogen Hub is not part of this plan. It is proposed to apply for that project at some other time.
