Bright interludes and further showers. The showers will be a wintry mix with heavier showers falling as snow and giving some fresh accumulations mainly over higher ground of Shetland. Thunder and hail are also possible. Light winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Clear intervals and further wintry showers, the chance of some heavy snow showers developing across Shetland with strengthening northeasterly winds. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Monday 12th December:

It will be another rather cold showery day, the showers mainly of rain or sleet across Orkney with sunny intervals too. Chance of longer spells of snow for Shetland. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Remaining cold with fresh to strong northerly winds bringing a mixture of clear or sunny intervals and sleet or snow showers.
