Today 26th December:

Cold and windy with sunny intervals and frequent showers of rain, sleet or hail. Some snow possible later. Strong to gale west to northwesterly winds with severe gales affecting Shetland this afternoon. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Staying cold with wintry showers at first tonight, dying out later. Strong westerly winds becoming lighter by morning. There will be a touch of frost and some icy patches. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Tuesday 27th December:

A much quieter day weather-wise. Showers at first mostly dying out then sunny spells and light winds. Thickening cloud bringing rain and strengthening southeast winds to Orkney later in afternoon. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Overnight rain clearing, then drier, brighter on Wednesday with lighter winds. Showers or longer spells of rain on Wednesday night and Thursday, then showers and strong southerly winds on Friday.
