Dry for much of today with sunny spells and light winds. Thickening cloud will bring rain and strengthening southeast winds to Orkney early this evening. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with rain over Orkney moving up to Shetland early tonight. Drier, clearer conditions following to Orkney later with touch of frost. Winds becoming light. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Wednesday 28th December:

Cloudy morning over Shetland but overnight rain gradually dying out. Dry, brighter conditions over Orkney extending to Shetland by afternoon. Thickening cloud and further rain reaching Orkney during evening. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Staying unsettled with blustery showers or even some longer spells of rain, some heavy. It will be cold and also windy at times.
