Young People Free Bus Travel – Apply Now

Some young people in Orkney are paying for bus fares when they don’t need to.

The Scottish Government widened the concessionary bus travel scheme to include all those under 22 years age.

The free bus travel is for the whole of Scotland, not just Orkney, so really useful to have if you are visiting friends and relations or attending an event outwith Orkney.

Children under 5 travel free anyway so no need to apply for them.

Orkney Islands Council is offering assistance to anyone having difficulty in applying . You can email OIC transport team transport@orkney.gov.uk (include young people’s names, address and date of birth, and a good contact number to get you back on), or call the Council’s customer services team on 01856 87 35 35 who will be able to direct you.
