Today 14th January:
Shetland will have a mixture of bright spells and occasional showers. Orkney will be cloudy with rain arriving around dawn and continuing throughout the day, leading to some localised flooding in the afternoon. Strengthening east or northeasterly winds, gales later. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Continuing very wet over Orkney this evening, some flooding. The rain may spread up to southern Shetland for a time before all areas turn clearer with showers overnight. Northerly gales. Minimum temperature 1 °C.
Sunday 15th January:
A brighter but colder day with a mixture of sunny intervals and occasional snow showers bringing slight falls later. Northerly gales backing northwest and easing. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
A cold few days with clear or sunny intervals and showers, these mainly of snow on Monday and Tuesday morning then turning back to rain. Windy at times.
