Icy patches at first on untreated surfaces. Some bright or sunny intervals and occasional wintry showers, some spells of drier weather too. Brisk northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Clear periods and wintry showers, although showers turning to rain across Orkney in the early hours. Windy across Orkney later with fresh to strong westerly winds. Icy patches. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Thursday 19th January:

Bright spells and showers, chance of some longer spells of rain across Orkney at first. Strong westerly winds across Orkney easing by afternoon. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A few early showers on Friday, otherwise dry and sunny. Cloudy over the weekend with occasional rain, windy with southwesterly gales across Shetland on Saturday.
