Orkney cloudy this morning with some rain or sleet at first. Otherwise bright spells and a few passing wintry showers. Strong to gale northeasterly winds veering northerly this afternoon and easing towards evening. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Clear periods and a few wintry showers this evening. A band of briefly heavy snow showers will spread south in the early hours along with strong northerly winds. Icy stretches. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday 14th March:

A bright, cold day with snow and hail showers. Showers may turn more frequent and heavier together with strengthening northwesterly winds after dark. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cold with snow showers on Wednesday, less windy. Cold and windy with rain or sleet spreading north on Thursday, becoming drier on Friday.
