Today 15th March:

Cold start, ice likely on untreated surfaces, with sunny spells, the best of these across Orkney, and occasional wintry showers. The showers become increasingly confined to Shetland, and fewer and further between, this afternoon. Occasionally strong northwesterly winds easing. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Still some wintry showers for Shetland this evening but also some clear spells before cloud increases. Outbreaks of rain, preceded by a little sleet or snow, spread northeast overnight. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Thursday 16th March:

A mostly cloudy day with outbreaks of rain, most persistent across Orkney. A drier spell is expected across Orkney around midday and Shetland later in the afternoon. Freshening southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mostly cloudy with a little rain Friday. Mainly dry start Saturday but rain spreading north later with strengthening easterly winds. Early rain Sunday then rather cloudy with showers.
