A mainly dry and sunny start to the day for the Northern Isles but clouding over for Orkney later with showers pushing up from the south. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine across Shetland. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Tonight:
Showers mostly clearing into the evening, leaving dry conditions with patchy cloud and clear spells. Easterly winds picking up overnight. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Friday 24th March:
Orkney will again have showers through much of the day with drier and brighter conditions for Shetland. Strong northeasterly breeze giving a cooler feel. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Sunny spells and scattered blustery showers on Saturday and Sunday, these increasingly falling as sleet and snow through the weekend. More persistent sleet and snow possible for Orkney on Monday.
