Heavy and thundery rain clearing Orkney this morning to leave a dry, bright and warm afternoon. Heavy rain and misty low cloud developing across Shetland this morning. Turning drier by mid afternoon but staying misty. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Apart from the odd shower across Orkney it will be a dry evening and night. Lengthy clear periods across Orkney but haar affecting Shetland at times. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Saturday 12th August:

Mainly dry with some spells of sunshine, chance of a few afternoon showers across Orkney. Haar may affect parts of Shetland at times. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Apart from the odd shower it will be a mainly dry few days although haar may linger across Shetland at times.
