Today 18th September:

A wet start for Orkney but brighter for Shetland at first. Otherwise, cloudy with outbreaks of rain, these becoming persistent and heavy by late morning for Orkney and during the afternoon for Shetland. Breezy. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

A drier evening for Orkney with a few showers later in the night. Rain will take longer to clear Shetland, brisk Westerly breezes overnight. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Tuesday 19th September:

A showery day on Tuesday with blustery southwesterly winds too. A few heavy showers at times especially for Shetland. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Remaining unsettled towards the end of the week with wet and windy conditions. Rain on Wednesday but turning more showery on Thursday and Friday with some brighter interludes too.
