Cloudy with rain, this most persistent and heaviest across Orkney. Rain across Shetland mainly confined to the south, and dying out during the afternoon with some bright or perhaps sunny spells developing. Brisk southeasterly winds, reaching gale force over Orkney. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Some heavy rain over Orkney in evening but gradually turning light and patchy through the night, Mainly dry with clear spells over Shetland, but the odd shower. Winds gradually easing. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday 27th October:

Cloudy over Orkney in morning with some rain, but brighter in the afternoon with a few showers. Sunny spells over Shetland but the odd shower too. Southeasterly winds easing further. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright and cold with sunny spells and scattered showers, some of hail with snow on higher ground. Easterly winds Saturday, strong across Orkney, Brisk northeast winds Sunday, easing later Monday.
