A cold and windy day with a mix of brief sunny spells and occasionally heavy, blustery showers, these turning increasingly wintry across Shetland through the day. Northwesterly gales will be severe at times with gusts around 65mph. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells and further blustery showers, these falling as a mix of sleet, snow and hail, this evening and overnight. Remaining windy with occasionally severe northwesterly gales. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Friday 24th November:

Another cold and blustery day with further occasionally heavy, wintry showers. The showers will tend to become fewer and further between across Orkney in the afternoon. Northwesterly gales slowly easing. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A few showers Saturday but most places dry with sunny spells and northwesterly winds continuing to ease. Rather cloudy Sunday and Monday with occasional rain with winds turning more northeasterly.
