Orkney 2025 has announced the winner of the Medal Design Competition for the 20th International Island Games. The organisation partnered with Creative Orkney to deliver the competition.
The winning design has been created by Jodie Brown.

Judges met last week to deliberate the entries and were delighted with the quality of entries received.
Kirsteen Stewart of Creative Orkney said
“It has been a great opportunity for the Creative Orkney membership to push the boundaries of their creativity and be involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity. The judging panel really enjoyed how innovative the designs were and that they touched on the history, nature and identity here on Orkney”.
Orkney Constituency MSP Liam McArthur, LibDem has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Jodie Brown for her winning design.
“That the Parliament congratulates Jodie Brown, of Tankerness, whose design has been officially selected for the medals to be used in the 2025 International Island Games, due to be hosted for the first time in Orkney; understands that the medal design selection was decided through an Orkney-wide competition, with Jodie’s entry singled out by the judges for its “strong and bold” design; notes that the medal design depicts three of Orkney’s iconic Standing Stones, among the oldest anywhere in the British Isles; further understands that the medals will be produced by Sheila Fleet Jewellery and thanks the business for their support of the Games and Creative Orkney for helping to organise the competition; recognises that the Island Games are set to be the largest sporting event in Scotland and one of the largest anywhere in Europe in 2025; believes that Jodie’s impactful design is a fitting match for such a major event and agrees with Head Judge, Sheila Fleet that it shows “the hallmark of an up and coming designer”.
Speaking about the design, Head Judge Sheila Fleet said
“The winning entry is very well deserved. Jodie has created a very iconic design with so much that symbolises Orkney. The hollow circle stands for Orkney and the presence of the iconic standing stones. As a medal it has great impact. It shows the real hallmark of an up and coming designer.”
As well as the honour of seeing her design used for all of the medals during the Games, Jodie will also receive her own commemorative set of medals and will be given the opportunity to present the winners’ medals at one of the events during the week.
Sheila Fleet Jewellery is sponsoring the medal production for the winning design. The medals will be produced through Sheila Fleet Jewellery.
In total, more than 1400 medals will be presented during the Games week. For team events, all members of the winning teams will each receive a medal.
All employees of any Creative Orkney member employees were permitted to enter the competition. All entrants were judged on an anonymous basis
