Today 24th December 🎅 :

Bright spells and scattered showers, some prolonged over Shetland. Strong southwest winds over Orkney with gales this afternoon, veering northwest later this afternoon with severe gales likely. These very strong winds extending to Shetland this evening. Milder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Very strong northwesterly winds will gradually ease down during the night. There will be clear periods and further showers, these turning increasingly wintry. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Monday 25th December 🎅 :

Sunny spells on Christmas day with still a few wintry showers. Northwest winds will become light by afternoon. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunshine and wintry showers on Tuesday. Strong northerly winds easing down. Heavy rain and snow will extend northwards across the Isles on Wednesday along with easterly gales, clearing during Thursday.
