Cloudy with frequent and occasionally heavy showers in the morning. The afternoon becomes drier and brighter with showers becoming increasingly wintry over Shetland towards the evening. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

A few evening wintry showers over Shetland otherwise dry with clear periods then high cloud spreading north. Moderate northerly winds veer east then strengthen later. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Wednesday 27th December:

Dry with bright spells, the wind will soon strengthen to gale possibly severe gale force southeast as rain, some persistent, heavy and falling as snow spreads across Orkney. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Dry with light wind at times Orkney otherwise cloudy and windy with showers or longer periods of rain Thursday and Friday. Drier, brighter with light winds for a time Saturday.
