Today 13th January:

A much brighter but colder day with sunny spells and showers, these turning wintry over Shetland from late morning and Orkney by the evening. Strong northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered wintry showers feed in from the north throughout turning heavier at times and more frequent later. Feeling much colder than last night. Winds remain strong and blustery northwesterlies. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Sunday 14th January:

It will remain very cold with frequent snow showers, giving slight or moderate accumulations with some drifting in the strong northwesterly winds. Gales across Shetland for a time. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

The cold theme will continue throughout with sunny spells and frequent snow showers, giving slight or moderate accumulations. Blustery northwesterly winds.
