Numeracy Classes

UHI Orkney has secured funding to run numeracy classes for adults, to delivered in Kirkwall. The classes are free to attend with the option of day or evening class.

The Multiply fund, a new programme, is funded by the UK’s Shared Prosperity Fund to help adults improve their numeracy skills. These classes will boost people’s ability to use maths in their everyday life, at home and at work by providing a free-to-attend Numeracy at SCQF level 5 course, either part-time on Tuesday afternoons or via evening classes on Wednesday. Improving numeracy skills can help you become more confident and improve career prospects, or preparation for further study. The numeracy courses are designed to increase confidence with numbers for those needing the first steps towards formal qualifications.

Numeracy qualifications at SCQF5 are needed to access a huge number of employment and training opportunities. The course will offer a range of support which provides participants the opportunity to: Upskill to access certain jobs, improve their understanding of numbers, use numeracy to manage their money, increase numeracy skills in the workplace, and access new College courses and training opportunities.

The programmes are for anyone who does not already have SCQF Level 5 Maths or Numeracy qualifications and can attend the face-to-face teaching sessions.
