Frequent rain showers or longer spells of rain for Orkney. Snow showers at first for Shetland, turning to rain later. Less cold and a touch less windy than Thursday. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
Tonight:
A drier evening for Shetland as showers die out. Showers and blustery winds likely to persist all evening for Orkney. Widespread cloud and rain spread east in the early hours. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
Saturday 20th January:
Bands of rain and strong winds will push northeast across the Northern Isles in the morning. Drier and clearer for a time before further rain and strong winds later. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Scattered showers at first Sunday. Rain and very strong winds arrive Sunday evening, continuing throughout daytime Monday. Scattered showers follow overnight into Tuesday. Rain and strong winds arrive later Tuesday.
