Today 31st January:

Very windy with heavy rain pushing eastwards through the morning, gusts of 70mph or more expected. Clearing to blustery heavy showers in the afternoon, these turning wintry with a risk of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining windy with heavy and blustery wintry showers. West or northwesterly gales or severe gales at first, easing slightly overnight. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Thursday 1st February:

Bright spells and showers, heavy and frequent at first and wintry over Shetland. The showers becoming less frequent and heavy with persistent rain in the evening. Windy. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Friday. Bright with showers on Saturday and early Sunday, rain later in Orkney. Windy throughout, gales at times.
